New Jersey Professional Development (PD) Hours

The responsibility for approving professional development activities lies with the local school district and the educator's immediate supervisor. It is important to ensure that any FariaLearn session is pre-approved as part of their Individual PDP to guarantee the hours will be accepted toward the 20-hour annual requirement.

  • Alignment: Before beginning a FariaLearn pathway, ensure the topic aligns with your individual PDP goals or your school/district’s improvement goals.
  • Documentation: Upon completion of your FariaLearn session or course, download and save your Certificate(s) of Completion. This serves as the official record of your "seat time" and learning objectives.
  • Reporting: Present your certificate to your supervisor or district PD committee during your annual performance or PDP review.
SCECHs
Michigan State Continuing Education Clock Hours

Final authority for the acceptance of professional development hours rests with the local school district. It is important to obtain prior approval from your district's SCECH Coordinator or Administrator before beginning a FariaLearn course to ensure it meets local district-provided professional development (DPPD) criteria and is eligible for upload into MOECS.

  • Documentation: Upon completion of your FariaLearn session or course, download and save your Certificate(s) of Completion and Learning Log(s) or any accompanying evidence of learning.
  • Submission: Submit these documents to your district’s SCECH Coordinator or designated PD official. They will use your documentation to upload your hours directly into the MOECS portal.
  • Verification: Once uploaded, you will receive an automated email from the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) to complete a brief online evaluation. After the evaluation is submitted, the hours will officially appear on your transcript.
